    Hurray for closure! could you please ask the surgeon if he could stitch up my assistant principal’s mouth while he’s at it? Maybe we could get a two for one deal. No anesthetic required, either. Seriously, though, for Nolan’s sake it will be worth it just to be able to go swimming. I know just the right lake too–in the Adirondacks…comes with its own teacher–me! Miss you guys.

    UTIs are no fun at all, so no, I never thought there would be occassion to celebrate a UTI! I think it’s interesting how much faster kids learn to communicate by sign language than spoken word. I know a kid who went to a day care that taught all the kids basic signs to help with the communication. His favorite was “more” (finger tips together). He was big with the “more”: more cookies, more dog, more play, more mommy. It was always clear he wanted more of something. The trick was figuring out what it was he wanted more of . . . Still out here checking on the Nolan updates, so thank you for still periodically letting us know...

    Thank you so much for the update! I can picture y’all playing and squealing in the park. How lovely to be doing that in the spring in NC! My vote is that you trust your instincts about the g-tube and stick to oral feeding. If you try giving him more and he doesn’t want it, his body isn`t going to use it for growth if you put it directly into his stomach–or maybe I’m just thinking about myself again…what do I know?

    The entire coastline of Estepona is one long promenade lined with play areas specifically designed for different ages and levels of development. There are even ones for the elderly to increase range of movement and mobility. Right now we go to the one for infants (with our friends baby, Matt) and on Sunday afternoons there are Russians, Norwegians, Romanians, English, Irish, Spanish, Moroccans, French, Senegalese, Argentinians, Ecuadorians, and on and on and on… think how much Nolan would love that. And further in there are streets lined with trees and shops just for pedestrians. And lots of ice cream parlors. Even Ben and...

Every time we had teeth pulled or even just our braces tightened, we’d always live on milkshakes for days and days–much longer than was ever needed. Supposedly we were to put raw eggs in them, but we never did. When does he get to “graduate” to other flavors like chocolate or coffee?
