Fall arrives on August 1st in this area, or so they say. The days are certainly getting shorter! I understand that the colors are spectacular on the highway as fall colors peak, but they were just beginning to turn when we were there. Since there aren't many trees, and the ones that are there are evergreen, the color is all in the groundcover, like this patch that had turned brilliant red.
