We're thinking of going canoeing on the Yukon River (see the route). However, we just found out that there are big forest fires near Fairbanks, so if those don't calm down, maybe it won't be the best idea... Here's the latest fire imagery with our route superimposed (taken from the Alaska Fire Service website). The yellow circles mark the three places where fires intersect our route (green path is driving, red path is canoeing). Doesn't look so good, huh?
