The camping meadow was perched at the top of a cliff overlooking the bay. Not that we could really see it. I'm sure it was beautiful. We were treated to a distant serenade from some active sea lions as we fell asleep on our last night in Alaska, though.
We did enjoy the organic pick-your-own raspberries right next to the camping meadow. In my case, it was Deb-picks-your-raspberries-for-ya-while-you-sleep-in!!! Yum!
I got to inspect yet another lifestage of the ever-present fireweed: seed dispersal. The seed pods open up and release this downy stuff with the seeds, and it gets caught up all in the fireweed so that it looks like a different plant entirely. These were the taller roadside fireweed.
